At this point in my life let me assume I am almost done with my fourth year at Fort Hays State University, and that I am still majoring in history education. It is May 2021 and student teaching is just around the corner. However, what have I accomplished by this point? What is my routine? What am I going to do next?
I know that in going to Fort Hays State University I am going somewhere a little out of my comfort zone. As a high school senior I am a little wary that I will have a hard time making friends just because I am kind of aggressive and pretty liberal. My first goal that I hope to accomplish is that I give the western Kansas kids a chance and make some friends. My second goal is that I will keep my GPA over a 3.3 to maintain my scholarship. My third goal is that I find something to get involved with and stick with it.
I have kind of an addictive personality. I hope to develop a healthy routine to follow throughout most of my college career. I am thinking I will make the four hour drive home to visit Mom and Dad at least once a month. I will also make the four hour drive to somewhere in Colorado at least once a month. Otherwise, I will try to do a little homework each day and find a job, while leaving room for other people in my life. I can't let my routine isolate myself from the world around me.
Now, back to May 2021. What's next? With the money I am saving from undergraduate, I hope to use that saved money for seminary school. In the meantime, I hope to be a social studies teacher somewhere. Whether it is in the BV school district or not is irrelevant to me. At this point in my life, I may be ready for a relationship, but I certainly don't feel like I am ready for marriage or children. I will likely wait until after seminary in order to devote the time I need to my educational and spiritual development.
